London, England

I as much stumbled across this scene as anything I had ever taken.

We were walking down Whitehall, heading for a recommended pub where a good lunch was to be had at a reasonable price, when I spotted a pair of the Queen’s House Cavalry manning their post in front of their barracks. They were already demonstrating their spot on discipline, with tourists jockeying for position for selfies with the horses and I didn’t want to be just another idiot showing something bordering on disrespect.

I patiently waited for the scene to clear and took a photo at a distance with some clear idea as to what I was going to do with it. I snapped off a few more, but I knew this one had some potential in Lightroom and Photoshop. The end results took a while to achieve what came to be one of the most dramatic images I have in my collection.

  1. Hi I would like to thank whoever made the effort to deliver these photos to Whitehall. They are by far the best pictures I have of myself doing my job and will now take pride of place on my mantle piece. There must be hundreds of thousands photos of myself taken whilst on ceramonial duty and I have always hoped to see one of the final results. Thanks again
